Rosslyn Hill Mining

Rosslyn Hill Mining is wholly owned by LeadFX, a privately-owned international base metals mining company.
Our Story
Paroo Station was last in production in 2015. It has since been in care and maintenance, ensuring that the mine and the plant would be ready for while a rapid restart when conditions are favourable.
2025 marks an exciting new chapter for the company, after a financial and management restructuring, the business has emerged in a strong position to make the necessary investments to resume mining and processing at Paroo Station.
The new management team is working towards restarting the mine in 2028, while ensuring compliance with government and environmental requirements.
Paroo Station will once again become one of the world’s largest lead producers.
Paroo Station Mine
The Paroo Station Mine is an open cut lead carbonate mine and concentrating facility located 30 kilometres from Wiluna in Western Australia’s Mid-West region. Lead carbonate concentrate produced from the mine is exported to customers internationally.
At full production this unique operation has the capacity to be the world's most significant pure lead mine, accounting for approximately two percent of the total world mined lead production.
A Unique Deposit
Lead carbonate is typically found close to the surface of most lead/zinc deposits, being formed by the oxidisation of sulphide minerals. In most mines, this near-surface ore is mined early in the mine life, to be replaced by deeper sulphide ores.
Our Paroo Station Mine is unique in that the entire deposit is oxidised, a result of deep weathering processes over a period of around 400 million years.
Concentrating the lead carbonate is a straightforward process that reduces the amount of material to be transported by removing waste minerals. This makes the transport process more effective and efficient, and ensures less carbon emissions.
Responsibly Lead
At Rosslyn Hill Mining, our priority is safe and sustainable operations. Our mining, processing and shipping processes demonstrate the emphasis we place on being responsible miners. Our leadership practices ensure that everyone in our organisation knows how important good environmental and safe work practices are, and that these are embedded in our culture.
We are committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees, the communities in which we operate and the environment.
End-to-End Compliance
Our responsibility for safe environmental practices extends beyond our mine site to the surrounding community and the entire transportation process to deliver our product to market.
We carefully manage and monitor every aspect of our supply chain, and regularly engage with communities in an open and transparent manner.
Mining Lead Carbonate
Lead carbonate concentrate from our Paroo Station Mine typically contains about 63% lead. At the mine site, lead occurs in the form of the minerals Cerrusite (lead carbonate) and lesser amounts of Angelesite (lead sulphate). The majority of the rest of the concentrate is silica and quartz and also contains minor amounts of other naturally occurring lead minerals.

In exploring, developing, operating, decommissioning and rehabilitation of mines, it is our mission to minimise long-term environmental impact. We recognise the importance of environmental management and are committed to implementing and maintaining best environmental practice, as well as continuously improving our environmental performance through review, assessment and reporting.
Our environmental management is also guided by a commitment to complying with a wide range of licences and conditions that form part of our approvals to mine, process and transport our product.
Our Culture
As part of our commitment to being Responsibly Lead, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees, the communities in which we operate and the environment.
Rosslyn Hill Mining places the utmost importance on the health and safety of our employees, contractors, visitors to our workplaces, the broader community and the environment. Through strong leadership, we ensure that good environmental and safe work practices are embedded in everything we do. We are committed to continually improving our health and safety performance and to becoming an industry leader in health and safety management.
